Gaw Dung

And so I have wrapped up some work for the festive seasons to come. Gaw Dung, Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year~~~ hmmm.

Anyways, I just got to know that Gaw Dung is also known as Winter Solstice Festival. *shrug* And so we had family reunion dinner as usual but a bittttt different this year. It is because the dinner was served by mom and myself. Yeap !! I cooked !! Sweet & spicy prawns and Tangyuan (Glutinous Rice Dumpling Ball) but I prefer calling it Tong Yuen in Cantonese. I have to admit that the prawns tasted good. Har~ har~

It’s happy to see my family enjoying the foodie and guess what? It’s finger licking good !! =D

Would you like to try cooking this scrumptious dish?
No? It’s ok. Yes? Here goes the recipe.

Sweet & spicy prawns

Ingredient A
1 bulb of garlic
1 bulb of onion
1 inch thick of ginger
5 red chilies

Ingredient B
1/2 a bottle of ketchup
5 tablespoon of chili sauce
4 tablespoon of soy sauce
1 tablespoon of sugar

Ingredient C
Prawns or clams. Wash and clean.
Egg (last)

Ingredient D. Optional.
Coriander to garnish.

1. Chop ingredient A and put aside.
2. Heat the pan with enough of oil to deep fry the prawns and put aside.
3. Reduce the oil from the pan, stir fry ingredient A till it turns golden brown and smells fragrant.
4. Add in ingredient B and stir well.
5. Add in the fried prawns and stir well.
For clams, you do not have to fry it. Just add in clams and stir until it’s cooked.
6. Lastly lower the fire, beat the egg, stir well for just 5 second and off the fire immediately.
7. Serve the dish into a serving plate. Garnish with coriander. And voila ~

Good luck and have fun cooking !!

August Rush

*Counting… may, june, july, august…*

Rush… rush…

Okay, I’ve been putting this blog aside for about 4 months. hmm *roll eyes*… I also have been repeating this for a lot, A LOT of time. which goes like this… “Oh my god… time flies !!”. Indeed, it’s so fast that I have to catch the time. At times, 24 hours are not enough. Whenever I plan to start my handcraft work, some other projects come along especially festive seasons and holidays are around the corner. But hey, isn’t it a good news? Yeah, I feel blessed and thankful for all the continuous supports and appreciation from family, friends and clients.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Happy Holidays !!

Back to the 60s

I personally agree that polka dot will not get out of vogue no matter what the trend and era is. Yup, it’s so famous back in the 60s. I’m not sure if I have ever mention that I got inspired by the 60s. The decade that brought us flower power, hippies, bell bottom, hot pants, mini skirts, polka dot, Audrey Hepburn skinny jeans, Beatles suit for the men and the list goes on. Where were you when all these were happening? If a genie could grant me a wish, I wish that I could turn back time and live in the 60s. *Erm… can I have more wishes ??* 😛

While I was experimenting some new flowers for my accessories projects, I realized that my obsessions have recently expanded to involve headbands. I’ve the designs of the headband sketched. Done some drafting and finger crossed things will turn out well.

The elastic headband below is 100% handmade of polka dot and solid navy blue cotton. With the perfect match of the newly-experimented-flowers, it brings everything to perfection.

A’lil update…

Ola, people !!

I’m right now busy with a project till mid of April. It’s a pretty hard row to hoe. Admittedly, it’s tiring yet fun. Challenging yet rewarding. In order to stay away from the computer just one night, I’ve decided to do some hair accessories which I have not been in touch with them for weeks with guilt. Hmm…

Ohhhh… I was away from the computer yesterday night too. Where to? I went rock climbing with some experienced climbing friends. What I like most? Sweating like a pig. It makes me feel so good. Hohoho…

Nothing much to show at the moment but a photo taken last weekend at Nyamuk, Batu Caves.

And climbing reminds me one of my favorite songs. The Climb by Miley Cyrus.

Oh, one more thing.

“Happy April Fool’s Day to y’all !!”

Melle and the machine…

Reminiscing over a coffee, mom used to make me nice pretty dresses when I was a little girl. I love them to bit and I still love them. Mom is the closest person to me during my childhood and she inspires me with dress making. I always imagined myself as a fashion designer or an artist. I even dreamt of becoming one. A famous one. I started drawing at the age of 4 and I started making tiny little dresses for my barbie doll at the age of 9 that impressed my family, teachers and friends. Yes, admitedly I’m pretty good at it. *grinz* I vividly remember sewing my 1st batik skirt at the age of 12. That is when I start using a sewing machine. I made bags, pencil case, dolls, gifts, aprons, cushion covers, curtains and lots more. Oh, I also altered and redesigned my clothes back in highschool time so that I could have brand new one to mix and match. Of course, to strut around too. Secretly telling you that some have gone into the waste bin too. shhh…

I haven’t been keeping in touch with the machine ever since I entered college. Those assignments were killers. Nope, I did not enter fashion school which I have a little bit of disappoinment. I always, always, always, wanted to take a part-time course years back (and now) but I’m just afraid that it’s a waste of time and my hard earned money especially. So… Here I am !! The story of Melle and the sewing machine continues !! I’ve decided to learn sewing on my own with help and guide from mom. Hoping that I could succeed ler~ Fingers crossed.
