Paper doll dress up

I have been thinking for quite some times how to blog about this cheongsam of mine till Winnie visited my blog. On a whim, China paper dolls came across my mind. I heart paper dolls when I was younger. I created each character of hand drawn paper dolls and dress them up with my designs as part of my homework. And here I am doing my homework. 😀

It was love at first sight. I knew right away what I’m gonna do with this cotton, japenese patterns fabric when I first saw it from the display shelves. Yes, my ever first cheongsam.

It’s a huge progress in making a cheongsam where the mandarin collar is the most technical part. What I enjoy most is making the chinese frog buttons. I called it “yao jah guai” buttons. I designed my cheongsam with cut-in sleeveless, ‘A’ line skirt, key hole, knee length, an invisible zipper on the centre of the back side and one hand-made frog button is decorated on the mandarin collar. This simple yet elegant cheongsam can be made a new look for a big party. I believe you’ll be more confident in any shows.
