… when I was a teenager, there’s something undeniably cool about sk8boarding. The sport itself, the tricks, the uniqueness and coolness, the graffiti, the sk8board design and the style. Not to forget the sk8ers. It’s a turn on. :p
In the painting, you can see one of my favourite tricks. It is the Ollie. It is the most important sk8boarding trick. The Ollie is a jumping technique that allows sk8ers to hop over obstacles and onto curbs, etc. What’s so amazing about the Ollie is the way the sk8board seems to stick to the sk8er’s feet in midair.
Another one is the Grinds. Sk8ers slide along an object using the trucks of a sk8board rather than the wheels. Grinds can be performed on any object narrow enough to fit between wheels and are often performed on the coping (edge) of a sk8 ramp, a purpose-built “grind box”, step, ledge or horizontally-positioned pole.
Tony Hawk, the legend is my idol. Besides the 60’s, I got part of my inspiration from sk8boarding back then. Ada stylo mylo. 🙂
